Coimbatore Corporation Public Grievances Day: 75 Petitions Received for Immediate Action

A public grievances day meeting was held at Coimbatore Corporation headquarters, chaired by Mayor Ka. Ranganayaki Ramachandran and presided over by Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja IAS. Citizens submitted 75 petitions regarding civic issues, with immediate action instructions given to concerned officials for resolution.


Coimbatore: A public grievances day meeting was held today (23.06.2026) at the Coimbatore Corporation headquarters. Mayor Ka. Ranganayaki Ramachandran chaired the meeting, which was presided over by Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja IAS.



Citizens approached the meeting with petitions concerning various civic amenities and basic facilities. A total of 75 petitions were received, covering issues including birth and death certificates, road facility improvements, street light maintenance, drinking water supply, underground drainage problems, professional tax and property tax matters, vacant land tax, new water connection provision, name changes, medical facilities, sanitation, and education-related concerns.

After receiving the petitions, the Mayor and Corporation Commissioner directed immediate action on these submissions. Instructions were issued to the concerned Zonal Assistant Commissioners, Engineers, and officials to resolve the grievances promptly.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Ra. Vetrriselvan, Deputy Commissioners Tha. Kumaresan and Ra. Saraswathi, Corporation Chief Engineer Vijayakumar, Health Officer Dr V.C. Subash Gandhi, Town Planning Officer N. Damodaran, Corporation Education Officer Gunasekaran (in-charge), Assistant Commissioners Narmada (West), Shanmugam (Central), Dakshinamurthy (South), Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Zonal Health Officers, Engineers, Health Inspectors, and all Corporation officials.

Public grievances day meetings have become a regular practice of the Corporation. These meetings provide citizens an opportunity to directly present their problems to administrative authorities. Such gatherings help bridge the gap between Corporation administration and residents, ensuring better civic governance and responsive administration in Coimbatore city.
