A special inspection of 1,03,755 streetlights across Coimbatore Corporation’s 100 wards was carried out on June 10 to identify non-functional lights and ensure immediate maintenance and restoration.
Coimbatore: Following the directions of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, various development and civic infrastructure works are being carried out across the North, East, South, West and Central zones of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.

As part of these efforts, a comprehensive inspection of streetlights was conducted on June 10 across all 100 wards under the Corporation limits to assess their operational status and identify maintenance requirements.

According to Corporation officials, Coimbatore currently has around 1,03,755 streetlights. The civic body has been undertaking regular maintenance activities and promptly repairing non-functional streetlights to ensure public safety and convenience.

To verify the current condition of the streetlight network, a 100 percent field inspection was carried out by Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, Deputy Commissioners, the City Engineer, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Zonal Health Officers, Assistant Engineers, Sanitary Inspectors, Sanitary Supervisors, Revenue Officers and other field staff.

Details of non-functional streetlights identified during the inspection are being compiled, and necessary corrective measures will be taken immediately to restore lighting facilities in affected locations.

As part of the inspection drive, Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja personally reviewed the condition of streetlights in areas including Marakkadai Road, Mill Road, Poo Market, Sukrawarpet and Gandhi Park.
