Coimbatore: Karthi, one of the accused arrested in connection with the sexual assault and murder of a 10-year-old girl in Sulur, has been shifted to Coimbatore Central Prison after completing treatment at the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital.

Karthi (35) and Mohan (31) were arrested by the Sulur Police in connection with the brutal crime that shocked Tamil Nadu. Both accused have been booked under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections. They were also detained under the Goondas Act earlier this week, while a court extended their judicial custody until June 5.

Karthi had been undergoing treatment in the prison ward of the government hospital after sustaining fractures to his right arm and right leg during an alleged attempt to escape from police custody. He remained under strict police security throughout his treatment.

Following a significant improvement in his health condition and clearance from medical authorities, Karthi was transferred to Coimbatore Central Prison under heavy police protection on Thursday.

The case has sparked widespread public outrage, with authorities continuing their investigation and evidence collection to ensure a strong prosecution against the accused.
