Sulur Minor Girl Murder: Aunt Alleges Body Was Cremated Without Mother’s Consent

Fresh controversy has emerged in the Sulur minor girl sexual assault and murder case after a relative alleged that the girl’s body was cremated without informing the mother and accused officials of acting in favour of the father following the post-mortem examination.

Coimbatore:

Fresh controversy has emerged in the death of the 10-year-old girl near Sulur in Coimbatore district, after the child’s aunt and relatives alleged that the body was cremated in haste without informing the girl’s mother or other family members.

Speaking to reporters, the girl’s aunt levelled a series of serious allegations regarding the handling of the child’s body following the post-mortem examination.

She said, “While we have been continuously protesting and demanding justice for the child’s death, senior officials allegedly spoke only to the father following the post-mortem proceedings and facilitated the release of the body without informing the girl’s mother.

The mother allegedly refused to sign the documents, insisting on justice for her daughter and seeking direct assurances from the Chief Minister. Although the Chief Minister reportedly spoke to her over the phone today and assured stringent legal action, she remained deeply distressed over her daughter’s horrific death and continued to refuse acceptance of the body without stronger assurances of justice.

Taking advantage of the situation, officials allegedly persuaded the father to sign the documents and handed over the body to him for the final rites.

The father then reportedly took the body to the child’s native place and proceeded with the cremation. The mother and other relatives rushed to the location but were allegedly denied the opportunity to participate in the final rites.

Since the body has already been cremated while we are still fighting for justice, any future need for a second post-mortem examination would now be impossible.

We are also unaware of the current status of the compensation reportedly announced for the child’s family. However, we have been informed that a sum of Rs. 7 lakh has already been received. We suspect the father agreed to these proceedings after allegedly being influenced by the compensation amount.

A proper inquiry must be conducted, and appropriate action should be taken against the officials who allegedly intervened in the process and acted in a biased manner by assisting the father in taking possession of the body.

The child’s father had already abandoned his wife, and now the mother, having also lost her daughter, has been left to suffer alone.

The mother, who has been abandoned by her husband and has now lost her child, should be provided with a government job and proper support,” she demanded.
