Elderly residents of Eeranenjam shelter home in Coimbatore held a tearful candlelight vigil demanding justice for the 10-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered near Sulur. The elders urged maximum punishment under POCSO Act for the accused.

Coimbatore: In a deeply moving gesture, elderly residents of the Eeranenjam shelter home in Coimbatore held a candlelight vigil and observed a silent tribute demanding justice for the 10-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered near Kannampalaiyam in Sulur area. The horrific incident has shaken the entire state of Tamil Nadu.

The elderly residents, many of whom are destitute and living without family support at the shelter home, gathered with tears in their eyes, holding candles in their trembling hands to pay homage to the innocent child whose life was cut short so cruelly.

A collective prayer session was organized by the Eeranenjam Trust, seeking peace for the child's soul, comfort for the grieving family, and demanding the strictest punishment for the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

The faces of the elderly participants reflected a painful mix of anguish and anger as they questioned, "How could such cruelty be inflicted upon an innocent child?" Their emotional tribute went beyond mere mourning—it was a powerful call for justice and child safety reforms.

During the event, several key demands were emphasized. The participants insisted that the accused must be given the maximum punishment under the POCSO Act, and that the affected family should receive mental strength and support to cope with their unimaginable loss. They also urged the government to pay greater attention to child safety measures to ensure that no other child suffers such a fate in the future.

The candlelight vigil, conducted in the gentle glow of flickering candles, transformed into more than just a tribute. It became an emotional expression of society's collective pain and a resounding message: "Ensure the safety of our children."

The event concluded with a poignant message that resonated with everyone present: "A parent's heart trembles… For the cries of an innocent life, may the law deliver the strictest justice!" The silent vigil by these compassionate elders serves as a reminder that the demand for justice transcends age and circumstance, uniting everyone in the fight against crimes against children.

Eeranenjam is a charitable trust that provides shelter and care for destitute elderly people and vulnerable individuals living without support in society. The participation of these senior citizens in demanding justice highlights the deep impact this tragedy has had across all sections of the community.
