Concerns have surfaced over inadequate security monitoring and access checks at the Poonga Nagar-side entry gate of Coimbatore International Airport, with sources alleging that outsiders are entering the premises without proper verification.
Coimbatore: Alleged inadequate monitoring at a secondary gate near Coimbatore International Airport is said to be facilitating unauthorised outsider access.

According to airport sources, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has deployed adequate personnel at the airport’s main entrance, where strict security screening and monitoring procedures are being carried out for passengers and visitors entering the premises.

However, sources pointed out that the secondary gate located near Poonga Nagar, situated on the left side of the airport’s main entrance (near the arrival departure building) reportedly remains accessible without regular surveillance or access verification.

The gate is primarily being used by workers residing near the airport for daily entry into the premises. However, sources alleged that due to the absence of continuous monitoring, several outsiders are also entering through the same access point and making use of facilities inside the airport premises without undergoing any security checks.
Airport sources stressed that the matter requires immediate attention from both the airport management and CISF authorities to strengthen surveillance measures and ensure proper access control at the secondary gate.
They further stated that enhanced monitoring at all entry points would help maintain tighter security standards and prevent unauthorised access within the airport premises.
