Karamadai-Tholampalayam Railway Gate Closed Indefinitely from Today

The railway gate at Karamadai-Tholampalayam has been closed indefinitely starting May 6 morning for Karamadai railway station expansion works including new platform construction. Southern Railway Salem Division advises public to use new overbridge or alternate routes during the closure period.


Coimbatore: The railway gate at Karamadai-Tholampalayam has been closed indefinitely starting today (May 6) morning for undertaking expansion works at Karamadai railway station.



The Southern Railway Salem Division has announced the closure to facilitate construction of a new platform and other essential infrastructure development works at the station. The indefinite closure will remain in effect until the completion of the ongoing projects.

Railway officials have advised the public to use the newly constructed overbridge or take alternative routes to reach their destinations during this period. The expansion works are part of the modernization and capacity enhancement initiatives being undertaken by the Southern Railway.

The Karamadai railway station expansion is expected to significantly improve passenger amenities and operational efficiency once completed. However, commuters and local residents will need to plan their journeys accordingly, keeping in mind the closure of the level crossing gate.

The Southern Railway Salem Division has requested public cooperation during the construction period and assured that the works will be completed at the earliest possible time to minimize inconvenience to daily commuters and residents of the area.
