Annamalai slams DMK; alleges Kongunadu party candidate unable to use party name in Pollachi

Campaigning in support of AIADMK candidate Pollachi Jayaraman, BJP leader Annamalai criticised the DMK government over governance and law-and-order issues, and alleged that the Kongunadu Makkal National Party is unable to independently use its identity in the constituency.

Pollachi: Former Tamil Nadu BJP state president K. Annamalai on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) during an election campaign meeting held at Thiruvalluvar Ground in Pollachi.

Addressing the gathering in support of Pollachi Jayaraman, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate, Annamalai said that the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance is witnessing a strong political wave in Tamil Nadu.

He alleged administrative lapses in the state, claiming that Tamil Nadu has been functioning without a permanent Director General of Police (DGP) for the past eight months. “The government is being run through an acting DGP, whose instructions are not being respected by officials. Even when the acting DGP goes on medical leave, another acting DGP is appointed. This reflects the administrative failure of the DMK government,” he said.

Criticising Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Annamalai remarked that the government is unable to function effectively. “If the Chief Minister is unable to govern, an interim Chief Minister could have been appointed,” he added.

Raising concerns over law and order, he claimed that crimes have increased under the present administration. Citing data, he alleged that thousands of cases, including sexual assault, murder, and offences under the POCSO Act, have been registered in recent years, creating an unsafe environment for women, children, and the elderly.

Targeting the opposition candidate in Pollachi, Nithyanadhan (KMDK), Annamalai further alleged that the Kongunadu Makkal National Party is unable to use its own party name and identity in the constituency. He accused the party of functioning under the influence of the DMK, claiming that even its symbols and images of its general secretary E. R. Eswaran are not being used.

Annamalai also praised AIADMK candidate Pollachi V Jayaraman, stating that he has represented the constituency as an MLA since 2001 and that his political experience and familiarity with local issues would significantly contribute to the constituency’s development.

He further expressed confidence that after May 4, if Edappadi K. Palaniswami becomes the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the combined efforts of the NDA alliance MLAs would help bring more central government schemes to their respective constituencies. Annamalai added that such coordination would accelerate overall development across the state and urged voters to elect NDA alliance candidates in every constituency to maximise the benefits from the Centre.

He concluded by stating that the DMK government is acting against the interests of all sections of society in Tamil Nadu and hence a change is inevitable.
