Coimbatore: The postal ballot collection process for senior citizens and differently-abled voters has officially begun in Coimbatore, marking the start of a three-day initiative ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for the 23rd of this month.

Election officials have commenced door-to-door visits to collect postal ballots from registered senior citizens and differently-abled voters who have opted for this facility. The specially assigned teams are visiting the homes of these voters, explaining the postal ballot procedure in detail, and ensuring that votes are recorded properly before securely collecting the ballots.

In Coimbatore, more than 160 teams have been specifically formed for this purpose across the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district. It is noteworthy that over 9,000 voters have registered to exercise their franchise through the postal ballot system in this election.

The postal ballot facility is designed to enable senior citizens and persons with disabilities to vote from the comfort and safety of their homes, eliminating the need to travel to polling stations. Election officials are taking utmost care to maintain the secrecy and security of the ballots during the collection process.

The three-day postal ballot collection drive represents a significant step in ensuring inclusive participation in the democratic process, allowing those who may face mobility challenges or health concerns to cast their votes conveniently and safely.
