Pollachi police arrested Sankar from Ariyalur district for snatching a three sovereign gold chain from Nivedha, who was alone at her residence in Makinampatti Annamalai Nagar on December 29. The accused was traced through CCTV footage and remanded to Pollachi sub-jail.
Coimbatore: Police in Pollachi have arrested a man for snatching a gold chain from a woman who was alone at her residence in Makinampatti Annamalai Nagar area last month.
Krishnakumar and his wife Nivedha reside in Makinampatti Annamalai Nagar locality in Pollachi. On December 29, when Nivedha was alone at home, an unidentified person came to the house under the pretense of being associated with TikTok and requested drinking water. Taking advantage of the situation, the suspect snatched a three sovereign gold chain from Nivedha's neck and fled the scene.
Based on a complaint filed by Nivedha, police from the East Police Station initiated an investigation. Officers examined CCTV camera footage from the surrounding areas and identified the suspect as Sankar, son of Kannan, from Udayarpalayam area in Ariyalur district.
Following the investigation, police apprehended Sankar and recovered the three sovereign gold chain from his possession. The accused was subsequently produced before the court and remanded to Pollachi sub-jail. The swift action by Pollachi police, aided by surveillance footage analysis, led to the successful resolution of the case and recovery of the stolen jewelry.
