A mock drill for monsoon disaster preparedness was conducted at the Tiruppur Collector's office, showcasing rescue techniques and safety measures by North and South Tiruppur Fire Station personnel.

Coimbatore: As the northeast monsoon begins in Tamil Nadu, the state government has ordered all districts to implement precautionary and preventive measures. In line with this directive, the Tiruppur district Fire and Rescue Services department conducted a monsoon disaster preparedness mock drill at the Collector's office on Monday morning.

District Collector Christuraj inaugurated the event, which was led by District Officer Annadurai. Firefighters from North and South Tiruppur Fire Stations participated in the drill, demonstrating various rescue techniques and safety measures.

The fire personnel showcased how to use common household items like plastic pots and bottles as flotation devices during flood situations. They also explained and demonstrated proper methods for rescuing drowning victims and advised the public on how to respond during emergencies.

The mock drill focused on practical survival skills and emergency response techniques, emphasizing the importance of preparedness during the monsoon season. The firefighters' demonstrations aimed to educate the public on self-rescue and assisting others during flood-related incidents.

Assistant Fire Officers Ilanchezhiyan and Veeraraj, along with Station Officer Mohan and several others, participated in this informative and potentially life-saving event. The drill served as a crucial step in enhancing the district's readiness for potential monsoon-related emergencies.
