Grand Valli Kummi Performance with Over 1000 Participants in Pollachi

A massive Valli Kummi performance was held in 10 Number Muthur near Pollachi, emphasizing community harmony, women's health, and traditional art, with over 1000 participants.


Coimbatore: A grand Valli Kummi performance was organized by the Karaala Vamsa Kalai Sangam group in 10 Number Muthur near Pollachi. The event saw participation from over 1000 people from Pollachi and surrounding rural areas.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the traditional art form of Valli Kummi among the younger generation, emphasize community harmony, and promote women's health. Participants performed Valli Kummi, reminiscing traditional stories like Murugan and Valli's marriage.



Nithiyanandhan, State Deputy General Secretary of Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi, who attended the event, spoke to reporters. He said, "The Karaala Vamsa Kalai Sangam in Pollachi area has trained over 4000 people. This helps in maintaining women's physical and mental health. Those who took training a year ago are happy that their bodily ailments have been cured."

He further added, "Valli Kummi, which reflects our culture and tradition, was revived, and a world record was set by performing with sixteen thousand people in one place. This training is reaching not only Tamil Nadu but also foreign countries. People from all walks of life in the Kongu region are learning Valli Kummi, irrespective of party affiliations or specific communities."

Nithiyanandhan concluded, "Valli Kummi is becoming a means for community harmony, bringing unity among people divided by politics and caste."
