Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Orders Repair of Damaged Roads in West Zone

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS inspected damaged roads in West Zone on October 13, 2024, and ordered immediate repairs using concrete slabs in areas affected by underground drainage works.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS conducted an inspection of damaged roads in the West Zone of the city on Sunday (October 13, 2024). The commissioner visited areas where underground drainage project work had caused damage to the roads, specifically in Ward 39 GKS Avenue and Ward 16 Aishwarya Garden and Arvind Garden.

During the inspection, Commissioner Prabhakaran instructed officials to swiftly repair the damaged roads by laying concrete slabs. He emphasized the need for quick action to restore the roads to a usable condition for residents.



The commissioner also inspected the ongoing work to remove stagnant rainwater near Kikani School in the Central Zone. He directed officials to expedite the process of draining the accumulated water to prevent any inconvenience to the public and potential health hazards.



"It's crucial that we address these issues promptly," said Commissioner Prabhakaran. "The damaged roads and water stagnation can cause significant problems for our citizens. We are committed to resolving these matters as quickly as possible."



The inspection tour covered various areas affected by the recent rains and ongoing infrastructure projects. The commissioner's hands-on approach in assessing the situation has been well-received by local residents who have been facing difficulties due to the road conditions and water logging.



Officials accompanying the commissioner during the inspection included Zonal Chairman Mrs. Deivani Tamilmarai, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Duraimurugan, Assistant Engineer Mrs. Savitha, Assistant Engineer Mr. Rajesh Venugopal, and other Corporation officials.



The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has assured residents that repair work will commence immediately and has requested their cooperation during the renovation process. The corporation also plans to implement measures to prevent similar issues in future infrastructure projects.
