Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan led a surprise inspection in Pollachi, focusing on bus stands and surrounding areas to curb illegal activities and ensure public safety.

Coimbatore: In a bid to curb illegal activities and ensure public safety, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan conducted a surprise inspection in Pollachi on Wednesday. The inspection primarily focused on bus stands and surrounding areas, targeting the sale of banned substances and prevention of anti-social activities.

SP Karthikeyan, along with his team, inspected shops in both the new and old bus stands of Pollachi. They were on the lookout for pan masala, gutka, narcotic substances, and lottery tickets. The police team also checked if these areas were free from any anti-social activities.

At the new bus stand, the SP examined the control room to ensure that CCTV cameras were functioning properly and that police personnel were working in shifts as per the duty roster. In the old bus stand area, the team thoroughly checked shops for the presence of gutka and pan masala.

The inspection extended to engaging with shop owners, with SP Karthikeyan inquiring about any issues or grievances they might have. Following this, the team conducted a vehicle check in the municipal area.

During the vehicle inspection, police officers verified if two-wheeler riders were wearing helmets and if they possessed valid driving licenses. The team also dispersed and warned individuals found drinking alcohol in front of the ATC theater.

Inspector Rathnakumar, Inspector Rajeswari, and several sub-inspectors accompanied SP Karthikeyan during this surprise inspection. The sudden appearance of the District Superintendent of Police for an inspection has created quite a stir in the Pollachi area.

This proactive approach by the Coimbatore District Police demonstrates their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens in Pollachi and its surrounding areas.
