Man Arrested Under POCSO Act for Sexually Harassing 5-Year-Old Girl in Coimbatore

A 45-year-old daily wage worker was arrested in Coimbatore for sexually harassing a 5-year-old girl in Karamadai area. The incident occurred on October 9, leading to the suspect's arrest under the POCSO Act.


Coimbatore: A shocking incident of child sexual harassment has come to light in Coimbatore's Karamadai area, leading to the arrest of a 45-year-old man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The incident occurred on October 9, when a 5-year-old girl was playing near her house in Karamadai. Pathirasamy, a 45-year-old daily wage worker from the same area, allegedly approached the child and sexually harassed her.

Terrified by the incident, the young girl immediately informed her sister about what had transpired. The girl's relatives then rushed her to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Upon receiving information from the hospital, the Karamadai police were alerted. The All Women Police Station in Mettupalayam promptly responded to the case. They conducted a swift investigation and arrested Pathirasamy under the POCSO Act.

The accused was produced before the court on October 10 and subsequently remanded to the Coimbatore Central Prison. This swift action by the police underscores the seriousness with which such crimes against children are being addressed in the region.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and awareness to protect children from such predatory behavior. Authorities are urging parents and guardians to remain alert and report any suspicious activities involving children promptly.
