Dinmalar Team Clinches Victory in T20 Cricket Tournament for All Departments in Coimbatore

A T20 cricket tournament for all departments was held in Coimbatore, organized by the City Police and Sparkling Events. Dinmalar team emerged victorious in the final match against the Deputy Commissioner's team.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police, in collaboration with Sparkling Events, organized a T20 cricket tournament for all departments in Coimbatore. The event saw participation from 16 teams representing various sectors.

The participating teams included Dinmalar, Dinakaran, Indian Express, City Police, District Police, Air Force, Corporation, Collector's Office, Income Tax Department, 110 Battalion, Commercial Tax Department, Media 11, and Coimbatore Press Club, among others. All matches were conducted in a knockout format.

The final match took place on October 9 at the Police Training School grounds. Dinmalar team faced off against the Deputy Commissioner's team. After winning the toss, Dinmalar chose to bat first. The team's opening batsman, Vijay, played exceptionally well, scoring a half-century (60 runs). Dinmalar team set a target of 157 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Mutharasan and Praveen Vignesh from the Deputy Commissioner's team took two wickets each.

In reply, the Deputy Commissioner's team was at 78 runs for the loss of six wickets in 16 overs when rain interrupted the match. As a result, Dinmalar team was declared the winner by 45 runs according to the DLS method.

Vijay from the Dinmalar team was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. The Coimbatore District Police team secured the third position, while the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's team finished fourth.

The winning teams were awarded cash prizes and trophies. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan and Deputy Commissioner Stalin presented the awards to the victorious teams.
