'I'm here to implement the Anamalai Nallaru project' - Congress leader's interview in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee State President Selvaperunthagai addressed reporters at Coimbatore Airport on October 6, discussing farmers' issues, the Anamalai Nallaru project, and criticizing BJP's agricultural policies.

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee State President Selvaperunthagai addressed reporters at Coimbatore Airport on October 6, sharing insights on various issues affecting the region and the state.

Selvaperunthagai stated, "A farmers' conference is being held in the Kongu region. There has been a significant debate about the Anamalai Nallaru project, which needs to be implemented. I have come to Coimbatore to participate in this on behalf of the Congress party."

He highlighted the efforts of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his 10-year tenure, mentioning the implementation of numerous schemes to protect farmers' interests. Selvaperunthagai criticized the current situation, saying, "For a decade, we have been witnessing agricultural communities protesting on the streets. They are facing confiscation due to debt burdens."

The Congress leader sharply criticized the BJP government, stating, "The BJP government, which introduced three agricultural laws leading to the deaths of hundreds of farmers, had to eventually withdraw them. The Union BJP government is playing with the lives of farmers."

Regarding the ongoing farmers' conference in the Kongu region, Selvaperunthagai said it aims to improve the livelihood of farmers in the area.

Touching upon the Tirupati laddu issue, he commented on Telugu Desam Party chief Pawan Kalyan's recent statement about overturning laddu plates. Selvaperunthagai called for Supreme Court intervention in the matter to reach a fair conclusion, accusing the Andhra Pradesh government of creating unnecessary confusion for devotees.

He also raised questions about the ghee used in Tirupati, which is reportedly from Gujarat. "It's said that the ghee given there is from Gujarat. Who is the owner of that company in Gujarat? How did that report come from Gujarat? This should be made known to the people," Selvaperunthagai demanded.
