ATM Heist Suspect Transferred from Coimbatore to Salem for Intensive Care

A criminal involved in an ATM heist in Kerala, who was shot during a police encounter in Namakkal, has been transferred from Coimbatore Government Hospital to Salem for intensive care after losing his right leg.

Coimbatore: A suspect involved in a major ATM heist in Thrissur, Kerala, has been transferred from Coimbatore Government Hospital to Salem for intensive care. The transfer occurred on October 3rd at approximately 3 PM, under heavy police escort.

The suspect, identified as Asar Ali, was part of a gang that broke into ATMs and stole large sums of cash, transporting it in a container lorry last month. The Namakkal district police intercepted the vehicle, leading to a confrontation. During the encounter, another suspect named Jumantheen was killed, while Asar Ali sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

Ali was initially admitted to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. However, complications arose when blood flow to his right leg was severely compromised due to vascular damage from the gunshot wound. As a result, doctors were forced to amputate his right leg through surgery.

Following the amputation, the decision was made to transfer Asar Ali to Salem Government Hospital for more intensive care and monitoring. The move was carried out with stringent security measures in place, reflecting the high-profile nature of the case and the suspect's involvement in the interstate ATM heist.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the brazen nature of the crime and the subsequent police action. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the ATM robbery operation and any potential links to other criminal activities in the region.
