Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati announces closure of all liquor outlets on October 2nd for Gandhi Jayanti. Strict action warned against violators.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Administration has ordered the closure of all liquor outlets on October 2nd in observance of Gandhi Jayanti. District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati made this announcement today (Oct. 1).

The closure order applies to all government-run liquor shops (Tasmac), bars, recreational clubs serving alcohol, star hotels with liquor permits, Tamil Nadu Hotels, Tamil Nadu Hotel Tourism outlets, and shops selling imported foreign liquor varieties.

Collector Pati warned that strict action would be taken against those violating the closure order. Anyone found selling alcohol on October 2nd, illegally stocking liquor, or transporting alcoholic beverages from one place to another will face legal consequences under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act of 1937.

The administration has urged all liquor outlets to comply with the closure order and reminded the public about the significance of observing Gandhi Jayanti as a dry day across the district.
