Chicken Shop Employee Killed by Wife in Coimbatore, Accused Arrested

In Coimbatore, a chicken shop employee was fatally beaten with a rolling pin by his wife following a domestic dispute. The incident occurred on May 25, leading to the arrest of the accused wife.


Coimbatore: A tragic incident unfolded in Coimbatore as a chicken shop employee was allegedly killed by his wife using a rolling pin. The victim, Nandakumar, a resident of S. Mettupalayam in Kinathukadavu taluk, worked at a chicken shop in Manikarampalayam.

Nandakumar had married Sahana Begum from Madukkarai in a love marriage five years ago. The couple has a son. According to sources, Nandakumar had a drinking habit and frequently argued with his wife over money after consuming alcohol.

On May 25, a heated argument broke out between the couple. In a fit of rage, Sahana Begum allegedly attacked Nandakumar with a rolling pin, causing a head injury. Following the altercation, an angered Nandakumar took his son and went to sleep at the chicken shop where he worked.

The next morning, when the shop owner Prakash arrived and tried to wake Nandakumar, he found him unconscious. Medical help was sought, but doctors declared Nandakumar dead on arrival.

Initially, Sahana Begum took the body to Nandakumar's hometown in S. Mettupalayam, Kinathukadavu, for final rites. However, when the head injury was noticed during the funeral preparations, the body was immediately taken to Pollachi Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The medical examination revealed that Nandakumar had died due to the head injury.



Based on the complaint filed, the Perianaickenpalayam police have registered a murder case and arrested Sahana Begum.

This incident has shocked the local community, highlighting the dire consequences of domestic violence. The police are conducting further investigations into the case.
