Grand Farmers' Exhibition at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore to host a state-level grand farmers' day exhibition from September 26 to 29, featuring over 300 stalls showcasing agricultural innovations and technologies.



Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore is set to host a grand state-level farmers' day exhibition from September 26 to 29. This announcement was made by TNAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. V. Geethalakshmi during a press conference held at the university campus on Tuesday (Sept. 24).

The exhibition, jointly organized by the Tamil Nadu government's Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, will feature over 300 stalls. Dr. Geethalakshmi stated that the event will showcase technical seminars, demonstrations, new crop varieties, crop stimulants, pest and disease control agents, organic agricultural inputs, nanotechnologies, value-addition techniques, digital agriculture, and irrigation tools.



Six farmers from Tamil Nadu will be honored with agricultural awards during the event. The inaugural ceremony will be graced by the presence of state ministers including M.R.K. Panneerselvam (Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare), Muthuswami (Minister for Housing), and Saminathan (Minister for Tamil Development). Other dignitaries expected to attend include the Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department, directors of agricultural research institutes, and bank officials.

The exhibition will provide insights on various topics such as agricultural production in changing climate conditions, artificial intelligence in agriculture, bank loan procedures for small and marginal farmers, crop insurance schemes, self-employment opportunities, distance education, and horticulture. These explanations will be provided by agricultural researchers, scientists, and officials.

Dr. Geethalakshmi emphasized that entry to the exhibition is completely free. The organizers expect around 10,000 visitors daily, including farmers, agricultural college students, agriculture enthusiasts, and the general public.

The event will see participation from TNAU's research stations, affiliated colleges, agricultural science centers, Indian Council of Agricultural Research institutions, private companies, farmers' producer organizations, extension service institutions, and banks.
