Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj Conducts Surprise Inspection at Student Hostel in Coimbatore

Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, conducted a surprise inspection at Dr. Ambedkar Girls' Hostel in Coimbatore on September 23. She reviewed the ongoing construction of a new hostel building and interacted with students.



Coimbatore: Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, conducted a surprise inspection at the Dr. Ambedkar Girls' Hostel in the Race Course area of Coimbatore on Saturday. The hostel, which operates under the control of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department, currently accommodates over 150 female students.



During her visit, the Minister reviewed the progress of the new hostel building being constructed at a cost of 10 crore 13 lakh rupees. She examined the construction site, blueprints, and discussed the ongoing work with the contractor. The new facility is designed to provide all necessary amenities for the students.

Kayalvizhi Selvaraj also interacted with the hostel staff and students, inquiring about the facilities provided and the quality of food served. She engaged in discussions to understand their experiences and needs.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, the Minister said, "We have personally inspected the construction of the new building in Coimbatore, which is being built at a cost of 10 crore 13 lakh rupees. The new structure will be equipped with all facilities, including attached bathrooms, desks, chairs, and beds within the rooms for the students."

She further added that similar student hostels are being constructed in other major cities of Tamil Nadu, including Trichy, Madurai, Chennai, and Salem. These initiatives aim to improve the living conditions and educational support for students under the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department's purview.

The surprise inspection and the Minister's interactions with the students reflect the government's commitment to ensuring quality accommodation and facilities for students in state-run hostels.
