Farmers' Association Petitions Forest Minister to Control Elephant Movement in Thondamuthur, Coimbatore

Farmers from Thondamuthur Union met Forest Minister Ma. Mathiventhan on September 19, requesting measures to control elephant movement in their area, affecting agricultural activities.


Coimbatore: Members of the Farmers' Association from various parts of Thondamuthur Union met Forest Minister Ma. Mathiventhan at the DMK office on September 19. They submitted a petition urging the minister to take measures to control elephant movement in their area.

The farmers expressed their concerns about the increasing incidents of elephant intrusions into agricultural lands, which have been causing damage to crops and posing threats to human safety. They requested the minister to implement effective strategies to mitigate human-elephant conflicts in the region.

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Coimbatore District DMK Secretary N. Karthik, Coimbatore North District DMK Secretary Tho. Ravi, and other DMK officials were present during the meeting. The delegation hoped that their petition would lead to prompt action from the Forest Department to address the elephant movement issue in Thondamuthur Union.
