DMK members in Coimbatore celebrated Anna's 116th birth anniversary by hoisting the party flag and paying floral tributes to his portrait at Vagarayampalayam on September 15.

Coimbatore: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) marked the 116th birth anniversary of Perarignar Anna with a grand celebration in Vagarayampalayam, Coimbatore on September 15. The event featured the hoisting of the party flag and floral tributes to the leader's portrait.

Thalapathi Murugesan, the DMK South District Secretary of Coimbatore, hoisted the party's bicolor flag on a newly erected 75-foot-tall flagpole. The flagpole was installed by the Mopiripalayam Perur unit of the DMK's South District committee.

Following the flag hoisting ceremony, party members paid their respects at the Kalaignar Thidal in Kaniyur Panchayat. This site houses a full-size statue of Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar, which was recently inaugurated by DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. In the presence of Coimbatore Member of Parliament Ganapathi P. Rajkumar, party members garlanded the statue of Kalaignar and offered floral tributes to a portrait of Perarignar Anna.

The celebration also included the distribution of sweets to the public. Several DMK executives and party volunteers participated in the event, making it a significant commemoration of the party's founder and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C.N. Annadurai, fondly known as Perarignar Anna.
