Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is conducting the Group 2 and Group 2A examinations across the state today. The exams aim to fill 2,327 vacancies, for which 7.93 lakh candidates have applied statewide.

In Coimbatore district, the exam is being held at 113 centers, with 33,490 candidates appearing for the Group 2 exam in the city alone. Revenue department officials are overseeing the examination process, and candidates have been instructed to arrive at the centers by 8:30 AM.

At St. Michael's Higher Secondary School in Manikoondu area, one of the designated exam centers, candidates began arriving early in the morning, displaying great enthusiasm.

They were allowed inside the center after undergoing security checks.

In an unfortunate incident at the same center, a female candidate who arrived after the permitted entry time was denied entry by a police officer. The officer, pleading with folded hands, explained that allowing her in would jeopardize his job.

The TNPSC had announced the recruitment for Group 2 and Group 2A posts on June 20. The exam is being conducted at 2,763 centers across Tamil Nadu. This recruitment drive has garnered significant interest among job seekers, reflecting the high competition for government positions in the state.

Authorities have taken strict measures to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination. Candidates are required to follow all prescribed guidelines, including carrying only essential items and adhering to the dress code.

As the exam commences, the atmosphere at various centers in Coimbatore is charged with a mix of nervousness and excitement. The results of this exam will play a crucial role in shaping the careers of thousands of aspirants across Tamil Nadu.
