Coimbatore: A video of a couple confronting a shop owner for selling an expired soft drink in Coimbatore has gone viral on social media. The incident, which took place in Podanur area, has raised concerns about food safety and consumer rights.

Sansar and Nisha, a couple from Podanur, Coimbatore, were waiting for their pizza order at a local eatery when they decided to purchase a cake and a 'Maa' brand soft drink from a nearby tea shop. Upon opening the soft drink, Sansar realized it had gone bad despite having a valid expiry date.

When the couple questioned the shop employee about the spoiled drink, he initially denied that it was expired. The employee claimed that the drink's expiry date was still six months away and that he had recently purchased the stock.

Unconvinced by the employee's explanation, the couple asked other customers present at the shop to taste the drink. One of the customers confirmed that the soft drink had indeed spoiled.

Sansar and Nisha recorded the entire incident on their mobile phone, capturing the conversation with the shop employee and the reaction of other customers. They later shared the video on social media platforms to raise awareness about the issue.

The video has since gone viral, sparking discussions about the importance of checking expiry dates and the responsibility of shopkeepers to ensure the quality of products they sell. Many social media users have praised the couple for their quick thinking and for bringing attention to this consumer safety issue.

Local food safety authorities have not yet commented on the incident. However, the viral video has prompted calls for increased vigilance and stricter enforcement of food safety regulations in the city.
