N.I.R ranks Bharathiar University at No.14, nationwide

The National Institutional Ranking (NIR) framework, of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, has ranked Bharathiar University at No.14 among the Indian universities.

Bharathiar University was ranked No.l Tamil Nadu, and second among the state universities at national level.

The University vice-chancellor A. Ganapathi said that the ranking was based on parameters like faculty-student ratio, faculty qualification, library and laboratory facilities, research publications and citations, Intellectual Property Rights, examination performances, achievement in public exams like Civil Services, student diversity, participation of women as faculty and students, support to economically- and socially- disadvantaged students, and facilities for the differently-abled persons.

Bharathiar University attained an overall score of 74.31 percent in N.I.R, and scored its highest 80.70 percent in research professional practice and collaborative performances category.

Ganapathi observed that the University has tremendous potential, but certain areas need further streamlining and fine-tuning to achieve 100 percent results. He also appealed to the stakeholders to strive for higher rankings internationally.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council's peer review committee recently visited the university, and, after thoroughly examining various aspects, re-accredited the University with 'A grade (CGPA3.11).
