Coimbatore Collector Invites Applications for Home Library Awards

Coimbatore District Collector calls for applications from home library owners for awards and prizes. The initiative aims to promote reading habits and encourage the establishment of libraries in homes across the district.

Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has invited applications from individuals who maintain libraries in their homes for awards and prizes. This initiative is part of the state government's efforts to promote reading habits and establish libraries in every household.

The School Education Minister had earlier announced that each district would organize a book festival and identify avid readers who effectively utilize home libraries. As part of this initiative, one outstanding home library in Coimbatore district will be selected for an award.

The chosen library will receive a prize worth Rs. 3,000, along with a shield and a certificate, to be presented by the District Collector. This recognition aims to encourage more people to set up libraries in their homes and foster a culture of reading.

Interested book enthusiasts in Coimbatore district who maintain libraries in their homes are requested to submit their applications. The application should include details such as the number of books in their library, types of books, information about any rare books, the year the library was established, and the applicant's name, address, and mobile number.

Applications can be submitted in person or by post to the District Library Officer at 1232, Periya Kadai Veethi, Coimbatore 641001. Alternatively, applications can be sent via email to [email protected] or submitted in person at the nearest public library.

The last date for submitting applications is September 30. This initiative is expected to promote the concept of home libraries and encourage reading habits among all sections of society in Coimbatore district.
