New Coimbatore SP Dr. Karthikeyan IPS Assures Safety for Women and Children

Dr. Karthikeyan IPS took charge as the 43rd Superintendent of Police for Coimbatore district, pledging to maintain law and order and ensure safety for women and children.



Coimbatore: Dr. Karthikeyan IPS assumed office as the 43rd Superintendent of Police for Coimbatore district today.



A former dentist and assistant professor, Dr. Karthikeyan joined the Indian Police Service after clearing the Civil Services Examination. He was previously serving as the Superintendent of Police in Tiruvannamalai district before taking up his new role in Coimbatore.



Addressing the media, SP Karthikeyan stated, "All necessary measures will be taken to maintain law and order in Coimbatore district. Strict action will be taken against those who attempt to disrupt peace. We will implement comprehensive measures to prevent crimes such as fraud and robbery, as well as take steps to solve existing cases."

He further elaborated on the department's plans to combat drug-related issues. "Intensive measures will be taken to curb drug trafficking. We will focus on awareness campaigns to prevent drug abuse among youth and students. The safety of women and children will be ensured as a priority," he assured.

SP Karthikeyan also outlined plans for road safety and public grievance redressal. "We will conduct studies on accident-prone areas and take preventive measures. Public petitions will be addressed without any bias, ensuring swift resolution," he added.

Addressing border security concerns, the new SP said, "Our district shares a significant border with Kerala. We will review and improve the surveillance at checkpoints, addressing any police shortages and evaluating CCTV camera placements. Precautionary measures will be taken to prevent conflict-related murders."

Dr. Karthikeyan concluded by mentioning that efforts would be made to expedite pending cases and ensure convictions for criminals. The new SP's appointment and his comprehensive approach to various law and order issues have been welcomed by the public, who hope for improved safety and security in the district.
