Coimbatore: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday inaugurated new buildings at Bharathiar University, marking a significant enhancement in the institution's infrastructure. The buildings, constructed at a cost of ₹41.57 crore, are designed to house various departments of the Schools of Life Sciences and Social Sciences.
The newly inaugurated facilities feature state-of-the-art classrooms, conference halls, research laboratories, libraries, office buildings, and dedicated spaces for heads of departments. This additional infrastructure is expected to provide each department with its own building, greatly improving the university's capacity for education and research.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister for Higher Education K. Ponmudy and other cabinet ministers, highlighting the importance of this development for higher education in the region.
The School of Life Sciences, which benefits from these new facilities, encompasses several key departments including Botany, Bioinformatics, Environmental Sciences, Zoology, Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, and Textiles and Apparel Design.
