Road Safety Awareness Camp Held in Pollachi for College Students

A road safety awareness camp was organized in Pollachi by the Regional Transport Department, local police, and Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, educating students on traffic rules and accident prevention.


Coimbatore: A road safety awareness camp was held today in Pollachi, jointly organized by the Regional Transport Department, Pollachi Sub-Division Police, and Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology. The event aimed to educate college students about the importance of road safety and traffic regulations.

The camp was presided over by Dr. Govindasamy, Principal of Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology. Mr. Nagarajan, Public Relations Officer of NIA Educational Institutions, welcomed the gathering and addressed the participants.



Mr. Nagarasan, the Regional Transport Officer of Pollachi, attended the awareness camp and spoke to the students, emphasizing the significance of road safety. Former District Chief Transport Warden Kamalakkannan also participated in the event, presenting videos on how accidents occur and ways to prevent them. He delivered an explanatory speech to enhance students' understanding of road safety measures.

During the camp, it was highlighted that individuals between the ages of 20 and 30 are most vulnerable to losing their lives in road accidents. The students were strongly advised to follow traffic rules, respect traffic signals, obtain proper driving licenses, and mandatorily wear helmets while operating vehicles.

The awareness program stressed the importance of responsible driving behavior among young adults, aiming to reduce the number of road accidents and fatalities in the region. The organizers hope that such initiatives will create a lasting impact on the students and contribute to safer roads in Pollachi and surrounding areas.
