Southern Railway Extends Special Train Services between Tirunelveli and Mettupalayam

Southern Railway's Palakkad Division extends weekly special train services between Tirunelveli and Mettupalayam for August and September 2024 to manage passenger rush. No changes in timings or stops.


Coimbatore: The Palakkad Division of Southern Railway has announced the extension of special train services between Tirunelveli Junction and Mettupalayam to accommodate the increased passenger demand. The extension covers nine services each way during August and September 2024.

Train No. 06030, the Tirunelveli Junction – Mettupalayam Weekly Special, will continue to operate on Sundays. It will depart from Tirunelveli Junction at 19:00 hours and arrive at Mettupalayam at 07:30 hours the following day. This service will run on August 4, 11, 18, 25, and September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2024.

Similarly, Train No. 06029, the Mettupalayam - Tirunelveli Junction Weekly Special, will continue its Monday schedule. It will leave Mettupalayam at 19:45 hours and reach Tirunelveli Junction at 07:45 hours the next day. This train will operate on August 5, 12, 19, 26, and September 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 2024.

The railway authorities have confirmed that there will be no changes to the existing stoppages or timings of these special trains. This extension aims to provide continued convenience to passengers traveling between Tirunelveli and Mettupalayam during the specified period.

Passengers planning to travel on these routes are advised to take note of the extended schedules and make their bookings accordingly. The Southern Railway's decision to extend these services reflects its commitment to addressing the ongoing high passenger demand on this route.
