Kidnapping accused detained under Goondas Act in Coimbatore

Pineesh Kumar, a 45-year-old man from Kerala, was detained under the Goondas Act in Coimbatore for kidnapping and defrauding a local resident under the guise of astrology.

Coimbatore: A 45-year-old man from Kerala, identified as Pineesh Kumar, son of Sadanandan, has been detained under the Goondas Act for kidnapping and defrauding a Coimbatore resident. The accused was arrested for kidnapping Senthil Kumar (48), son of Murugan from Kinathukadavu area, under the pretext of providing astrological services.

The case was initially registered at the Negamam Police Station, following which Pineesh Kumar was remanded to judicial custody. Given his history of involvement in multiple criminal activities and continued actions detrimental to public peace and order, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police V. Badrinarayanan recommended invoking the Goondas Act against the accused.

Based on this recommendation, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati issued an order to detain Pineesh Kumar under the Goondas Act. Subsequently, on July 31, the accused was imprisoned in Coimbatore Central Jail under the provisions of the Goondas Act.

The detention of Pineesh Kumar under the stringent Goondas Act underscores the authorities' commitment to maintaining law and order in the district and serves as a deterrent to potential offenders involved in kidnapping and fraud cases.
