Coimbatore District Collector Warns Against Visiting Tourist Spots Due to Continuous Rainfall

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has issued a warning on July 31, advising against visiting tourist spots in the Western Ghats due to continuous rainfall and increasing water levels in reservoirs.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore district has been experiencing continuous rainfall, leading to increased water levels in reservoirs. In light of this situation, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has issued an advisory on July 31, urging people to avoid visiting tourist spots in areas along the Western Ghats.

In his statement, the Collector highlighted that the continuous heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats region of Coimbatore district poses risks such as landslides and flooding. The affected areas include Valparai, Anamalai, Mettupalayam, Perur, and Madukkarai taluks.

The tourist spots mentioned in the advisory are Chinna Kallar, Aliyar, Solaiyar, Koolangal Aru, Apar Neeraru, Keezh Neeraru, Kadamparai, Monkey Falls, Kovai Courtallam, Pilloor, and Lower Bhavani. The public is requested to avoid these areas during the monsoon season to prevent unforeseen incidents such as landslides and drowning.

The Collector's warning comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of both locals and tourists during this period of heavy rainfall. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging everyone to cooperate with the advisory for their own safety.
