TN Government Should Properly Implement Central Schemes: BJP State President Annamalai

BJP State President Annamalai, visiting Coimbatore for a book release, urged the Tamil Nadu government to properly implement central schemes and criticized the state's approach to various initiatives.

Coimbatore: BJP State President Annamalai, who visited Coimbatore for a book release event, met with reporters at a private hotel alongside Union Minister Kishan Kumar Reddy. During the press conference, Annamalai emphasized the need for the Tamil Nadu government to effectively implement central government schemes.

Annamalai stated, "Out of seven PM Mitra Parks allocated based on the challenge model, Tamil Nadu has received one. What has the state government done since the establishment of the PM Mitra Park in Virudhunagar? The state government doesn't bring central government schemes to investor conferences."

He further added, "The state government claims that Chinese mobile phone manufacturing companies are coming here. It's only because of the central government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme that mobile phone manufacturing companies are coming to Tamil Nadu."

Addressing the AIIMS Madurai project, Annamalai said, "It's a central government initiative. Now, all issues have been resolved, and work is progressing with necessary permissions. Construction will be completed by 2026. However, it took 8 months just to get permission to cut a tree."

Responding to the Chief Minister's decision to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting, Annamalai pointed out, "If the Chief Minister boycotts the meeting because Tamil Nadu's name isn't mentioned in the budget, then by that logic, people from 27 districts not mentioned in the state budget should say the Chief Minister shouldn't visit their districts. Even BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra weren't mentioned in the central budget. The budget addresses what states need."

Annamalai highlighted Finance Secretary Somnathan's recent interview, stating that there's a cordial relationship with the state's finance secretary, and no state finance secretary has raised any issues regarding the budget. He accused politicians of politicizing the matter.

The BJP leader also mentioned the central government's Employee Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, stating, "For the first time in Indian history, the central government is providing funds to the private sector for job creation. Internship allowances will be provided to one crore youth over the next five years. The Mudra loan amount has been increased from 10 lakhs to 20 lakhs. Such schemes will greatly benefit Coimbatore."

Regarding the Vellalore dump yard issue, Annamalai said, "The National Green Tribunal has twice ordered the central government to remove the Vellalore dump yard. However, the state government has not complied with these orders. We plan to meet the Environment Minister in Delhi to discuss this further."

Annamalai criticized the state government's approach to power generation and renewable energy. He stated, "The state has increased the cost of power generation. When they increase electricity tariffs, they blame the central government. The central government is not pressuring the state. The state should reduce the cost of power generation. The Prime Minister continuously speaks about renewable energy, but in Tamil Nadu, permissions for solar power projects are not granted without money."
