TMC President G.K. Vasan: Political reasons behind CM's absence at NITI Aayog meeting

Tamil Maanila Congress President G.K. Vasan held a press conference in Coimbatore, discussing party restructuring and criticizing the Tamil Nadu CM's absence from the NITI Aayog meeting.

Coimbatore: Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) President G.K. Vasan addressed the media today after attending a meeting with the party's Coimbatore zonal administrators at a private hotel in the Citra area of Coimbatore.

Vasan revealed that the party has undergone restructuring as part of its 2026 election strategy. He stated, "We have started reorganizing the party structure based on our strategy for the 2026 elections. Yesterday, we began this process in Chennai, and tomorrow we will have meetings in Madurai and Trichy zones."

The TMC leader explained that the party has reorganized its structure to have one district leadership for every two constituencies. He emphasized that this restructuring has been well-received by all party administrators and noted that other parties are also adopting similar approaches to strengthen their organizations.

Vasan highlighted the party's focus on youth, stating, "We have given more importance to young people in this restructuring. Specifically, to strengthen the youth wing, we have divided it into four zones with four leaders. We are working to empower young people in all zones."

He also mentioned that women have been given key positions in the youth wing, and young people have been appointed to various other wings, including the agricultural and trade wings.

Addressing the party's financial situation, Vasan said, "Our party, which spans three generations, operates on the principles of honesty, simplicity, and purity. Due to this, we face financial constraints. Our administrators are contributing from their own earnings to strengthen the party."

When asked about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's absence from the recent NITI Aayog meeting, Vasan criticized the decision, stating, "The Chief Minister's failure to attend the NITI Aayog meeting is solely due to political reasons. It's unfortunate that he missed an opportunity to present Tamil Nadu's needs and secure benefits for the state."
