Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa has made a strong push for enhanced air connectivity from Coimbatore and other cities in the state. In a communication to the Union Minister for Civil Aviation on July 2, Rajaa outlined several requests aimed at improving both domestic and international air travel options for Tamil Nadu residents.

The minister's requests included expediting the Parandur airport project and ensuring direct flights from Coimbatore to international destinations such as Dubai and Singapore. Rajaa specifically mentioned the need for business class seats on these international routes, indicating a focus on attracting business travelers and high-end tourists.

Furthermore, Rajaa sought improved connectivity to other Tamil Nadu cities, including Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Salem, and Thoothukudi. He also emphasized the need to expedite airport projects in Thanjavur and Vellore, showcasing the state government's commitment to developing air infrastructure across Tamil Nadu.

For Chennai, the state capital, Rajaa requested enhanced international connectivity to major global destinations including the United States, Japan, Korea, and Australia. This move aims to position Chennai as a major international hub and boost Tamil Nadu's global connectivity.

The comprehensive list of requests demonstrates the Tamil Nadu government's vision for improved air travel infrastructure and connectivity, which could potentially boost tourism, trade, and economic growth in the state. The response from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to these requests is awaited.
