Three MEMU Train Services to be Extended to Podanur Junction from July 20

Three MEMU train services between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore will be extended to Podanur Junction from July 20, 2024. The inaugural run will be flagged off by Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan on July 19.


Coimbatore: In a move to enhance rail connectivity in the region, three MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train services currently operating between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore will be extended to Podanur Junction starting July 20, 2024.

The extended services include Train No.06009/06812 Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU (Daily), Train No.06815/06816 Mettupalayam – Coimbatore MEMU (Daily), and Train No.06822/06823 Coimbatore – Mettupalayam MEMU (Except Sunday).

Dr. L. Murugan, Union Minister of State, will flag off the inaugural service of the extended run from Mettupalayam at 10:00 AM on July 19, 2024. This ceremonial flag-off will mark the beginning of improved rail connectivity for passengers traveling between Mettupalayam, Coimbatore, and Podanur.

The regular extended services to Podanur Junction will commence from July 20, 2024. This extension is expected to benefit commuters, especially those who need to travel beyond Coimbatore towards the southern parts of the district and neighboring regions.
