The DAESI programme, known for its comprehensive curriculum, includes contact classes conducted by agricultural experts and practitioners at the district level every Sunday. These sessions are complemented by field visits, providing students with hands-on experience and practical knowledge.

Parallel to DAESI, the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) offers a similar programme - Diploma in Agricultural Inputs - in Tamil medium through its Directorate of Open and Distance Learning. This course has gained significant popularity due to its relevance in the agricultural sector.

The completion of this course has become a prerequisite for securing a Fertilizer Dealership Licence, as mandated by the Fertilizer Control Order – 2015. This requirement has led to increased enrolment in the programme, with over 700 candidates currently pursuing the course.

TNAU's programme is accessible to a wide range of aspirants, admitting candidates who have passed or even failed their 10th standard examinations. The course spans two semesters and has a minimum age requirement of 18 years, with no upper age limit. The curriculum is extensive, covering crucial subjects such as Agricultural Entomology, Agronomy, Soil and Seed Science Technology, Plant Pathology and Nematology, Farm Machinery, Crop Physiology, Agricultural Microbiology, Horticulture, Agricultural Rural Management, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, and Water Technology.

This comprehensive education equips the graduates with a robust understanding of various aspects of agriculture, preparing them for their roles as input dealers and para-extension officials.
