Sirpi Literary Awards Ceremony Held in Pollachi

The Sirpi Literary Awards ceremony, organized by the Padma Shri Kavignar Sirpi Foundation, was held on July 16, 2024, at NGM College in Pollachi. The event honored literary figures and launched two books by Sirpi Balasubramaniam.


Coimbatore: The Sirpi Literary Awards ceremony, organized by the Padma Shri Kavignar Sirpi Foundation, took place on July 16, 2024, at NGM College on Palakkad Road in Pollachi. Dr. P.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of NGM College, presided over the event.



Dr. K. Panjangam released two books by Padma Shri poet Sirpi Balasubramaniam and delivered an introductory speech, while Dr. G. Parthiparaja received the books and offered his congratulatory remarks. The two books released were a poetry collection titled "Narivili" and "Uzhavan's Song," a translation of Malayalam poet Sachithanandan's poems.

The Sirpi Literary Awards for 2023 were presented to poet and film director Brinda Sarathy and poet Ko. Vasanthakumaran. The 2024 awards were conferred upon painter-poet Amudha Bharathi and poet Na. Ve. Arul. Additionally, the 2024 Sirpi Literary Prize was awarded to poet Punnagai Poo Jayakumar. The title of "Pathippial Vithagar" (Publishing Expert) was bestowed upon Ram. Gurumurthy of Manivaasakar Publications.



Poets K. Amsapriya and R. Boopalan from the Pollachi Literary Circle introduced the award recipients. Poet Nandhalala congratulated the awardees in his felicitation speech, while Kirungai Sethupathi delivered the vote of thanks. Professors Vadivel and Sethupathi coordinated the event.



The ceremony saw the participation of numerous writers, professors, and literary enthusiasts, including Nanjil Nadan, Subrabharathi Manian, and Vijaya M. Velayudham. The event was jointly organized by the Sirpi Foundation, the Tamil Department of NGM College, and the Pollachi Literary Circle.
