Five arrested for plotting robbery near Karumbukadai Azad Nagar in Coimbatore

Coimbatore police arrested five individuals on July 12 near Karumbukadai Azad Nagar for planning robberies. The suspects were caught with weapons during a routine patrol, leading to their detention and interrogation.


Coimbatore: The Kuniyamuthur police in Coimbatore apprehended five individuals on July 12 for allegedly planning robberies near Karumbukadai Azad Nagar. The arrests occurred during a routine patrol when officers noticed the suspects behaving suspiciously in an empty field.

The police, acting on suspicion, detained and questioned the group. During the interrogation, the suspects provided inconsistent answers, prompting a thorough search. The search revealed that the individuals were carrying weapons, including knives.

Following this discovery, all five suspects were taken to the police station for further questioning. The interrogation revealed that the group had been planning to commit robberies and highway robberies by threatening victims with knives.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Muhamad Yasir (22) from Vellalore Housing Unit, Muhamad Anas (23) and Ibrahim (36) from Sunnambukaalavaai, Sarbudeen (23) from Sugunapuram, and Muhamad Waseem (19) from Gobichettipalayam, Erode.

The police confiscated five knives and three mobile phones from the suspects. The timely intervention of the Kuniyamuthur police has potentially prevented multiple crimes from being committed in the area.

This incident highlights the importance of regular police patrols and the need for public vigilance in maintaining community safety. The Coimbatore police have urged residents to report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to help prevent such criminal activities.
