OPS Faction Files Complaint Against Ex-Minister Jayakumar in Udumalpet

AIADMK's OPS faction filed a complaint against former minister Jayakumar at the DSP office in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, for allegedly defaming O Panneerselvam. The incident occurred today, highlighting growing tensions within the party.

Coimbatore: The AIADMK faction led by O Panneerselvam (OPS) has filed a complaint against former minister Jayakumar at the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) office in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district. The complaint accuses Jayakumar of making defamatory statements against OPS, calling him a "traitor" and a "green traitor," which they claim has tarnished the former Chief Minister's reputation and dignity.

Marimuthu, the district secretary of Puratchi Thalaivar Amma Peravai, led the delegation of OPS supporters who submitted the complaint to DSP Sugumaran. The group, known as the AIADMK Cadre Rights Retrieval Committee, expressed their distress over Jayakumar's daily media statements, which they allege are intentionally spreading slander against OPS.

The complaint also highlighted that Jayakumar's continuous defamatory remarks through various media outlets have caused significant mental distress to the AIADMK cadre supporting OPS. The supporters urged the police to take appropriate action against the former minister for his alleged malicious statements.

Several key members of the OPS faction were present during the complaint filing, including constituency secretary Lakshmanan, forum president Ramachandran, South Union forum president Sivan, Udumalpet West Union secretary Mani, Udumalpet East Union secretary Krishnasamy, Udumalpet West Union trade secretary Kannan, Udumalpet North Union assembly secretary Ari Murugan, and branch secretaries Palanisamy, Masilamani, and Natrayan.

This incident underscores the ongoing internal conflicts within the AIADMK, particularly between the factions led by OPS and Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), as they continue to vie for control over the party.
