Four-member gang robs biker on Vadavalli-Siruvani Road in Coimbatore

A 28-year-old book distributor was robbed of Rs 2,000 and a wristwatch by a four-member gang on Vadavalli-Siruvani Road in Coimbatore. The incident occurred on July 5, and police have launched an investigation.


Coimbatore: A shocking incident of highway robbery occurred on the Vadavalli-Siruvani Road in Coimbatore on July 5, when a four-member gang targeted a lone motorcyclist and robbed him at knifepoint.

The victim, identified as Saravanan (28), a book distributor and son of Suresh from Kalveeram Palayam near Vadavalli, was riding his motorcycle on the Vadavalli-Siruvani Road when the incident took place. The gang, travelling in a car, intercepted Saravanan's bike and threatened him with a knife.

The assailants forcibly took Rs 2,000 in cash and a wristwatch from Saravanan before fleeing the scene. Shaken by the incident, Saravanan immediately reported the crime to the Vadavalli Police Station.

Inspector Franklin and Sub-Inspector Kathirvel have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the robbery. The police are currently examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning potential witnesses to identify and apprehend the culprits.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of commuters on the Vadavalli-Siruvani Road, especially during late hours. Local residents have urged the police to increase patrolling in the area to prevent such crimes in the future.

Authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant while travelling on isolated stretches of road and to report any suspicious activities immediately to the nearest police station.
