Major Awareness Event on Drug Abuse Conducted Near Madathukulam, Tirupur

Near Madathukulam in Tirupur, an important awareness event on drug abuse was held, organized by students of G.V.G. Visalakshi College for Women from the National Service Scheme.


Coimbatore: A significant awareness event focused on the eradication of drug abuse took place in Kadathur Village Council area near Madathukulam, Tirupur. Organized by the National Service Scheme students of G.V.G. Visalakshi College for Women, the event was led by DMK's Kadathur Branch Secretary Velliyangiri, who chaired the occasion.



Various dignitaries from different sectors participated, enriching the event. The program's guidance was provided by Dr. Siranjeevi and Dr. Vijaya, the officials of the college's NSS. The medical field was represented by the local medical officer Ilango, and public health supervisor Thamarai Kannan. Further endorsing the literary arts, K.K. Jayaraman, a leader in the Progressive Writers Association of Tamil Nadu, marked his attendance. Law enforcement was represented by the officers from Kaniyur Police Station, showing an inter-departmental collaboration for community welfare.

Participants, including students and representatives from political parties like the Communist Party, alongside community stalwarts and educators from Kadathur and the surrounding areas of Guruvalasu, voiced against drug abuse. Through slogans and distribution of informative flyers, they targeted raising public awareness about the dangers and societal impact of narcotics.



The procession marked an active participation crossing major localities of Kadathur like South Street, East Street, West Street, and North Street, culminating at the local bus station. This event not only highlighted the direct involvement of college students in tackling social issues but also showcased cohesive community efforts against drug abuse, signifying the collective resolve of local governmental bodies, educational institutions, and political organizations.
