Coimbatore Cyber Crime Station Receives Complaints of Fraud via GMR Mobile App

Victims in Coimbatore file complaints at the Cyber Crime Station against a fraudulent scheme on the GMR mobile app, alleging losses ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 3.5 lakhs.

Coimbatore: Citizens in Coimbatore are in turmoil after being duped into investing large sums of money into a scheme promoted through the GMR mobile app. On July 3, numerous affected individuals lodged a formal complaint at the Coimbatore City Cyber Crime Police Station. Victims were enticed by the promise of regular weekly payments for daily work on the app after making an investment.

According to the complaints, Mubasheera from the Madukkarai area of Coimbatore promoted this scheme. Many invested amounts ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹3.5 lakhs expecting to receive weekly income as advertised on the app. However, none of the investors received any money, which led to more than 100 people from Coimbatore filing a police complaint at the Cyber Crime Station.

Victims reported that this scheme did not only target residents of Tamil Nadu but also people from neighboring states, causing financial losses amounting to crores. The complainants have urged the police to take action and facilitate the recovery of their invested funds.
