New International Airport Announced in Hosur by Chief Minister MK Stalin

Industries Minister Dr. TRB Rajaa expressed gratitude to Chief Minister MK Stalin for announcing a new airport in Hosur, expected to handle 30 million passengers annually and span over 2000 acres.

Coimbatore: Industries Minister Dr. TRB Rajaa has extended his heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister MK Stalin for the announcement of a new international airport in Hosur. This ambitious project is set to cover over 2000 acres with a capacity to accommodate 30 million passengers per year.

The announcement was made during a recent press meet where Dr. Rajaa highlighted the potential economic boost the airport would bring to the region. According to him, this development is a pivotal step in enhancing the economic and industrial growth in Hosur, which lies strategically near major cities like Bengaluru and Chennai.

The proposed airport is expected to significantly benefit not just Hosur, but also the surrounding districts including Dharmapuri and Salem, and even extend its positive impacts towards regions in Karnataka. With this setup, Hosur could potentially foster a twin-city economic relationship with Bengaluru, further strengthening its position as a growing industrial and business hub.

This initiative has been a passion project for Dr. Rajaa, who has been a staunch advocate for the establishment of an airport in Hosur during his time at the State Planning Commission. Under the guidance of Vice Chairperson Dr. J Jeyaranjan and with inputs from notable members like Tmt. Mallika Srinivasan and Dr. M. Vijayabaskar, Dr. Rajaa conducted thorough regional analysis while developing policies for key sectors including EV, Advanced Manufacturing, and Tourism.

Hosur’s conducive environment for growth is already recognized with existing robust infrastructures for EXIM gateways and proximity to significant industrial clusters. The region hosts major corporations like Tata Electronics, TVS, Ashok Leyland, Titan, and Rolls-Royce (IAMPL), which significantly contribute to its industrial landscape.

The new airport is seen as a catalyst for transformative infrastructure and economic growth, a vision backed by Chief Minister MK Stalin and echoed by planning commission leaders. Dr. Jeyaranjan also acknowledged the foresight of former Chief Minister Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi in recognizing the potential of Hosur, underlying the historical commitment to the region's development.

This new airport promises to enhance connectivity, foster economic growth, and propel Hosur into a prominent position within the national and international economic arenas.
