Coimbatore Police Woman Wins at State-Level Shooting Competition

Roopavathi, a head constable from Coimbatore Railway Police Station, won gold in the 300-meter rifle shooting competition held in Chengalpattu.


Coimbatore: A state-level women’s police shooting competition was conducted from June 8 to June 9, 2023. This event is a precursor to the upcoming 'Special All India Police Shooting Competition for Women,' scheduled from June 15 to June 20, 2024, at the Tamil Nadu Commando School Training Center in Othivakkam, Chengalpattu District.

The competition, organized under the latest rules and regulations provided by the All India Police Sports Control Board, featured 13 categories, including rifle (5 events), pistol, revolver (4 events), and carbine, sten gun (4 events). Participants from various divisions showcased their skills in rigorous shooting disciplines.

In a notable achievement, Roopavathi, a head constable from the Coimbatore Railway Police Station, excelled in the competition by securing a gold medal in the 300-meter rifle event. Her standout performance has brought pride to the Tamil Nadu Police Department, highlighting the expertise and training of state police forces in competitive shooting.
