The 127th Performance of Pavalakkodi Kummiyattam Team Celebrated in Dharapuram

The Pavalakkodi Kummiyattam troupe celebrated its 127th performance in Muthu Nagar, Dharapuram. Over 200 performers showcased traditional dance forms in traditional attire, accompanied by folk and philosophical songs.


Dharapuram: The quaint town of Dharapuram in Tirupur district witnessed a cultural renaissance as the Pavalakkodi Kummiyattam group held its 127th performance at Muthu Nagar. Led by the artistic director Viswanathan, the troupe emphasized the need to revive and preserve ancient arts amid modern cultural declines.






The artists donned traditional attire and performed the historical Kongu regional art form, drawing participation from 200 individuals including children, women, and men. This vibrant event was not just a dance performance but a robust display of cultural heritage.






Throughout the festival, the performance was interspersed with native folklore songs, as well as the intellectually stimulating compositions of Bharathidasan and Bharathiyar. Poetry and philosophical songs from movies also graced the event, reaching an audience of over 500 people who enjoyed the enchanting spectacle.
