Bodies of Indians Killed in Kuwait Fire Accident to be Repatriated Today

Over fifty individuals, including several Indians, perished in a disastrous fire at a residential building in Kuwait’s Mangaf area early this morning. The bodies of the deceased are scheduled to arrive via special flight today.


Coimbatore: Early this morning, a severe fire broke out in a building occupied by workers in Mangaf, Kuwait, resulting in over fifty fatalities. This information was confirmed by local authorities and the Overseas Indian Welfare Board. Most of the deceased are from India, authorities stated, and the Kuwait government has released the initial list of the deceased.

The Overseas Indian Welfare Department announced that the bodies of seven Tamil individuals among the deceased would be repatriated today by special flight. The first phase includes transporting the mortal remains, and all assistance is being coordinated for this purpose.

Furthermore, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister has issued directives to provide all necessary medical and support services to the victims' families and those affected. This is in response to the significant number of Indian nationals, specifically Tamils, impacted by the incident. The health authorities are currently treating those rescued from the fire in Kuwait's hospitals.

Following the tragedy, Makkaludain Mudhalvar has instructed the Overseas Indian Welfare Department to gather information on whether any Tamil Nadu residents were affected and ensure medical assistance is facilitated through the Indian embassy and Tamil organizations in Kuwait.

In related developments, under the directives of Prime Minister Modi, Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh has traveled to Kuwait to oversee relief operations associated with this tragic incident.
