11-Foot Python Rescued from Farm Near Angalakurichi

An 11-foot python was rescued from a farmer's poultry pen near Angalakurichi, Coimbatore, after it swallowed a chicken. The reptile was safely captured and released into the wild by the Forest Department.

Coimbatore: In an unusual wildlife encounter near Angalakurichi, an 11-foot-long python was rescued after swallowing a chicken from a local farmer’s poultry pen. Farmer Sivaraman, who rears livestock including goats, cows, and chickens in his farm, got a shock on the morning of June 12 when he encountered the massive snake in the act of preying on his poultry.

Upon discovering the python, Sivaraman immediately alerted the Forest Department, who arrived promptly at the scene. After a prolonged struggle, the officials safely captured the large python hiding within the chicken coop. The reptile was later released into the dense forests of the Azhiyar region.

Given the rainy season, the Forest Department has advised locals to keep their living areas clean and free of bushy clutter to avoid such dangerous wildlife encroachments. Public awareness about maintaining clean surroundings is emphasized to prevent similar incidents.
